Lockdown Date Ideas

Dating may feel like it’s been put on hold due to the global pandemic we’re facing. While it may be true that traditional dates are suffering, if you get creative, the options are still vast.

Here are a few of my dating coach lockdown date ideas you might enjoy. Some are for first dates and some are for when you are further down the line!

Movies

Going out to a cinema may not be an option, but you can bring the cinema experience to you! You can have a movie marathon, complete with popcorn and other snacks. You can theme the night to make it more interesting or you can create a blanket fort to make it more cozy. If you’ve been together a while, maybe you can hook your phone up to the TV and watch home videos. Lastly, you can rent a projector and set it up outside to have a unique, drive-in movie experience.

Gaming

There are many games you can play with a date, from flirty and fun to deep and intellectual. Card games are a great way to spend time with someone. Most people have traded their board games in for video games. Whichever you have access to is fine. The idea is to engage in an activity together. You can play a trivia board game to have a little friendly competition. If you want to connect on a deeper level, try making your own trivia game. Ask questions about each other. This is where you can get a little more, risque. Another unique lockdown date idea is to try indoor darts. You can get a real dart board or opt for the magnetic darts. Any game you choose to play has the option of becoming adult-themed.

Wine & Dine

The traditional dining experience may not be possible, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create your own version. It’s time to turn your kitchen/dining room into a lovely restaurant. Simply set the table, light the candles, and enjoy your favorite meal, dessert, and a perfect wine. This is easiest if you order food through a delivery service. You can make the food at home if you want and you can even try cooking together! Fondue is always a great option for making conversation and tasting great. Speaking of tasting, you can buy a few different wines and have a private taste testing. If you want something a little more fun, try having an indoor picnic instead. Sit on the living room floor and dine like you just moved in and don’t know where anything is yet.

Crafting

Many people will say “but, I’m not creative!” when told to try crafting. Yes, creativity is an asset, but everyone starts somewhere. You don’t have to be an artist to pick up a pencil. As a fun lockdown date idea, try drawing portraits of each other. If that’s not your idea of fun, maybe write a poem or a love letter to each other. This is a fun and romantic way to show each other how you feel. This works whether you’ve been together for years or it’s only the first date. If you don’t know each other that well, this is a great way to break barriers and learn. You can pull up one of the 5 Minute Craft videos from YouTube as inspiration for date night too. You can also just skip being creative and just watch YouTube Videos, sharing your favorites with one another.

Outside Lockdown Date Ideas

Of course, your lockdown date ideas aren’t restricted to indoors. There are ways you and your date can enjoy the outdoors too. The two of you could go on a bike ride or jump on roller skates/blades, ending in a picnic. You could go for a nice walk or a hike. Nature trails are another option that will still respect social distancing. If you don’t want to be too physically engaged, you can try the mellow options. These include watching the sun rise/set, stargazing, laying on the beach, etc. Just being present in the moment is a great way to truly connect with someone.
